Bronze Bull Spirits

Bronze Bull Spirits is Liberty & Plenty Distillery's line of small-batch, premium and ultra-premium bourbons and whiskies. It borrows its name from the ox that stands proudly in downtown Durham, North Carolina.  From the early days, Durham has been known as the Bull City, strong and determined. These qualities are found in the spirits, providing clear flavors, just as they are found in the Durham community that is not limited by convention, within its schools and research community that are pushing boundaries, and in the vibrant downtown entertainment and art scene that engage the senses. 

As a nod to the Bull City spirit of creation and innovation, this line is built upon the principles of iteration and flexibility in sourcing, distilling, blending and maturing, while remaining steadfast and resolute in the Liberty & Plenty promise of excellence. Each expression is produced in small batch quantities that reach for the uncommon value of flavor experiences. The Bronze Bull is resolute and limitless in its boundaries.

Rye Whiskey, Batch #1

Finished in PX Sherry Casks - SOLD OUT

Bronze Bull Spirits Batch #1 Rye Whiskey, a release of 1100 bottles, is sourced from an American Crafted mash bill using 4 and 5 year old Indiana Rye Whiskey. Selected barrels are blended by hand in North Carolina, slow proofed in barrel and finished for 5 months in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks to elevate the deep spice, chocolate and dark fruit notes on the palate.

Toffee, Light Oak, Dried Fruit

  • 74% Rye, 23% Corn, 4% Malted Barley

  • Hand dumped using 4x 53 gallon barrels, with gradual slow proofing in barrel over 5 months.

  • 100% New Charred Oak for Aging, #3 Char, finished over 5 months in PX Barrels.

  • 46% Alcohol by Volume, 92 Proof

Bronze Bull Spirits Bourbon Whiskey Batch #1, a release of 900 bottles, is sourced from an American Crafted mash bill using 6 and 7 year old Bourbon Whiskey. Selected barrels are blended by hand in North Carolina, and briefly aged in Moscatel casks from Spain, elevating the vanilla and toffee notes on the finish.

  • 100% New Charred Oak for Aging, #3 Char, finished over 3 months in Moscatel Barrels.

  • 46% Alcohol by Volume, 92 Proof

Finished in Cap & Cane Rum Barrels

Bronze Bull Bourbon Batch #2, a release of less than 600 bottles, is sourced from an American Crafted mash bill using  North Carolina and Indiana Bourbon Whiskey. Selected Barrels are blended by hand in North Carolina, then rested in Liberty & Plenty Distillery’s freshly dumped  Cap & Cane Golden Rum barrels.

  • Crafted from an American Mash Bill 7, 4 and 2 year old North Carolina and Indiana Bourbon.

  • Slow proofed and finished in Liberty & Plenty rum casks over 3 months.

  • 48% Alcohol by Volume, 96 Proof

Finished in Fig & Honey Barrels - SOLD OUT

Bronze Bull Bourbon Batch #3, a release of less than 500 bottles, is sourced from an American Crafted mash bill using 7, 5 and 2 year old North Carolina and Indiana Bourbon. Selected Barrels are masterfully blended by hand in North Carolina, then rested for four months in barrels washed in fig, wildflower honey and buckwheat honey.

  • First barreling in #3 Char New Oak Barrels, then married, slow proofed and finished in honey and fig washed barrels over 4 months.

  • 50% Alcohol by Volume, 100 Proof
